SECTION ONE – CLASS B SEMI_FINAL – RYE GARNETS HOST ARDSLEY’S PANTHERS – FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3 @ 7:00PM @ NUGENT STADIUM

It was just a short three weeks ago that the undefeated ARDSLEY PANTHERS, crept into Nugent with upset on their whiskers, only to be sent back to the savanna licking their paws following a 42-14 mauling by the Garnet & Black.

The following repeats the history lesson from this site from three weeks ago. Ardsley, along with Rye, was an original founding member of the CWL (Central Westchester League, 1968-1975). These cats reappear at Nugent for the first time in over twenty years, now twice in one season. After forfeiting the 1995 season, the Ardsley football program folded due to a lack of interest and an under-the-roster minimum number of players. As a result, the series lay dormant as a sleeping feline until 2000.

This Friday’s scratching will only be the fourth cat spat since the turn of the century. Over the ensuing years Rye has been solidly playing a Class A schedule while the Blue and Gold have been comfortable in Class B. Hence the lack of any recent scheduling comparisons and rivalry history other than the Garnet & Black clawing into feline dominance at 15-7-0 (.682).
