Today, meet basketball player, coach and executive Mike D’Antoni. He lived in Rye during his tenure with the New York Knicks.

Connection to Rye, New York
While Mike D’Antoni’s professional career has taken him around the world, he moved to Rye in the wake of signing a $24 million dollar contract with the New York Knicks in May 2008. D’Antoni may have looked at Rye because of fellow West Virginia native and basketball exec Rod Thorn who originally moved to Rye when he worked for the NBA as the EVP Basketball Operations and the Nets where he was president.
The D’Antoni’s had a son who played basketball at Rye High School and there were regular reports on D’Antoni attending his son’s games.
