The Rye City School District announced additional new staff heading into the school year.
Here are the new additions, approved at the Board of Education meeting Wednesday afternoon. See the prior reports of new districtwide staff, Rye High & Middle School staff and Rye Elementary staff.

Midland School
Carly Barnett, Special Education Teacher, Midland School
Ms. Barnett is already a familiar face at Midland School having worked as a Reading Intervention Instructor in the District’s Extended School Year program this past summer. Prior to working in Rye, she co-taught grade 3 at the Belmont School (P.S. 032) and worked as a grades K-2 special education teacher at P10X @823, both in Bronx, N.Y. After completing her student teaching, she worked in the Rye City School District as a grade K-12 substitute teacher during the 2019-20 school year. Ms. Barnett has a B.S. in Human Development from SUNY Binghamton and an M.P.S. in Childhood Education and Special Education from Manhattanville College.
Samantha Sullivan, Fifth Grade Teacher, Midland School
Ms. Sullivan comes to Midland School from the Bedford Central School District where she worked as a fifth grade Integrated Co-taught classroom Special Education Teacher for four years, and most recently, as a Building-Level Special Education Teacher for one year. Before working in Bedford, she spent two years as a first grade Teacher at The School For Environmental Citizenship (P.S. 386) in Bronx, N.Y. and three years as a second grade teacher at P.S./I.S. 187 in Manhattan. She has a B.A. in Childhood Education from Pace University and an M.S. in Literacy Studies from Lehman College.
Osborn School
Ashley Merritt, First Grade Teacher, Osborn School
Ms. Merritt comes to Osborn School from Oak Grove Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where she taught second grade for the past year, and first grade as a year-long leave replacement the year prior. She is already a familiar face in Rye; for the 2020-21 school year, she was the Assistant Coach to the Rye High School girls varsity basketball team. Ms. Merritt has a B.A. in English with a minor in Psychology from Dominican College in Orangeburg, N.Y. She expects to complete an M.Ed. in Literacy Education from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y., in 2023.
Rye Middle School
Danielle McGuire, School Psychologist, Rye Middle School
Ms. McGuire is already a familiar face at Rye Middle School, having served as a leave replacement School Psychologist during the 2021-22 and 2020-21 school years. Prior to coming to Rye, she was a leave replacement School Psychologist at the Valley Cottage Elementary School in Valley Cottage, N.Y., and a School Psychology Intern at several middle and elementary schools in the Ardsley Union Free School District. She was a School Psychology Practicum student at the Chatsworth Avenue School in Larchmont, N.Y. Ms. McGuire has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in School Psychology from Iona College. She is a New York State and Nationally Certified School Psychologist.
Megan Wilson, Reading Teacher, Rye Middle School
Ms. Wilson comes to Rye Middle School from Roaring Brook School in Chappaqua, where she worked as an elementary school reading teacher for the past two years. Before working in Chappaqua, she spent 10 years as a literature and writing instructor and eight years as Dean at Winston Preparatory School in New York City. After earning her Masters at Teachers College, Ms. Wilson spent four years as a Supervising Literacy Practitioner at the Teachers College Dean Hope Center for Educational & Psychological Services. She has a B.A. in English, Secondary Education, from Ithaca College and an M.A. in Reading Applied Educational Psychology, Reading Specialist, from Teachers College, Columbia University.
