Rye Varsity Baseball Team set a new season high in runs scored on Monday, April 28, as they crushed the Edgemont Panthers 16-0 at home. Rye’s offense has been potent all season, but this is a new peak, as Rye scored more runs than Edgemont had outs while also picking up the shutout.

Jack Sheridan got it done in the hill with four sparkling innings, including four strikeouts. He picked up his third win of the season to improve his personal record to 3-1. By the time he took the mound for the top of the third, he had been strapped with twelve runs in support.

Ten different Rye hitters recorded RBIs, including six hitters with two apiece. Those contributors were:

Luke Ontaneda: 3B, 2 RBI
Jamie Morris: 2 RBI, SB
Ben Fineberg: 2 RBI
Charlie Rupp: 2 RBI
Nolan Hutson: 2 RBI
Alex Schatz: 2 RBI
Lucas London: 2-2, RBI
Jackson Pineault: 2B, RBI
Harry Ellis: 2B, RBI
Diego Mosquera: RBI (also pitched a scoreless fifth inning with 2 Ks)

Rye has now won five consecutive games and moves to 9-3 on the season. They will look to become the first team this spring to reach double digits in the win column tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29, in an away contest at Pelham. First pitch is set for 4:30pm at Glover Field a few towns south.
