Rye PD welcomed its newest officer in a City Hall ceremony on Monday, April 28, 2025. Lauren Duffy was surrounded by family and police department staff as she was sworn in by Rye City Clerk Noga Ruttenberg. Duffy will join Rye’s patrol division.

“I’m looking forward to serving the community, and I appreciate this opportunity,” Duffy told MyRye.com.

Duffy comes from a family with over 180 years of multi-generational combined service to NYPD. Duffy, her fiance, her brother, both parents, grandfather and aunts and uncles all booked time with the NYPD. She is the last one to leave NYPD service. Her fiance Avery Tompkins just joined the Rye Brook Police patrol division three weeks ago.

Duffy joined NYPD in July 2021 from its recruit academy, working on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, then Manhattan North and most recently on transit in the Bronx. She holds a M.B.A. (Concentration in Business Analytics and Management Information Systems) and B.S. (Business Administration) both from SUNY Binghamton. She graduated from Mahopac High School in 2016, and was in the Putnam County Sheriff’s Cadet Program from 2012 – 2017. In her free time she prioritizes family. She and her fiance are planning a June 2026 wedding.
