RowAmerica Rye Varsity and Novice teams competed at the NY State Championship Regatta last weekend and walked away with a lot of metal. The competition served as the qualifier for the USRowing Youth National Championship, taking place in Sarasota, Florida from June 12–15. To advance to Youth Nationals, crews needed to finish in the top four of their event.
The regatta was the most successful for RowAmerica Rye since its founding in 2013. The club entered 51 crews, and 32 of them qualified for Youth Nationals. Of those, 15 were crowned NY State Champions, 10 earned silver medals, and 2 took bronze.
“We now look ahead to four more weeks of focused training as we prepare to compete at the highest level of youth rowing in the country,” said Marko Serafimovski director of rowing and head coach, youth women. “The dedication, effort, and resilience our athletes have shown all year have brought us to this point—and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.”
We are two-time defending national champions in the Boys’ Varsity Eight (2023 and 2024), and we are also defending titles in the Girls’ Varsity Eight, Girls’ 2nd Varsity Eight, and Girls’ U17 Eight and Boys’ U16 Eight. Our goal is to retain these titles again this year—and hopefully add more to the list.”
