Playland Park in Rye is extending its operating season for two additional weekends of rides, games, and family entertainment on Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 6, 7, 13 and 14, with park hours from 12 noon to 7pm each day. The park had been scheduled to close after Labor Day weekend.
“Playland is a destination that brings joy to people of all ages, and by extending park hours, we’re making sure residents and visitors alike can squeeze in every last bit of fun before the season ends,” said Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins. “It’s an opportunity for everyone to enjoy more time in the park and celebrate the end of summer together.”
In January 2025, private operator Standard Amusements said it wanted out of its 30 year contract to manage Playland. That left Westchester County scrambling to open the park for the season. According to MyRye.com’s weekly Playland Ride Watch (published on Thursdays), only 43% of the major rides and 68% of the Kiddy Land rides are open in the park. When the County opened the park on May 24, it was careful to say many rides would be closed because of the short lead time it was given to open the park this season..
Admission to the park is free; $15 ride all day wristbands, $10 parking.
