The Rye Girls Soccer team defeated Eastchester under the Nugent Stadium lights on Saturday, September 27, by a score of 4-0. The Garnets made no mistake putting the Eagles away after drawing them 0-0 earlier in the season to pick up the three points.

“The Garnets came out strong, controlling the pace from the start,” Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “The defense played composed and organized, led by captain Claire Nemsick anchoring the back line. Ella Fleckton and Julia Carballo moved the ball effectively through the midfield, while Eleanor Pandl’s relentless hustle on the wing kept constant pressure on Eastchester’s defense.”

Parker Calhoun broke the ice in the first half on a beautiful strike from about 30 yards out from goal, assisted by Harkin Brown. The duo connected again on Calhoun’s second goal before the first 40 minutes ended.

The halftime break did not change much, as Rye added tallies from Alessia McKinnon and Hannah Jachman to give Eastchester no chance to mount a comeback effort. Tessa Labowitz was not asked to do much, but picked up another shutout.

Rye (5-0-3) remains unbeaten heading into their next matchup on Tuesday, September 30. The Garnets travel to Pearl River for a 4:30pm start. Watch the victory over the Eagles here.
