The Rye Varsity Cross Country team participated in their first meet on Saturday, September 6, as twelve Garnets ran their first race of the season. Of the seven boys and five girls, Lily Oberbannscheidt and Sophia Ambrosini both finished top-20 in their field, earning medals at the Warwick Wave-Mania meet.
Oberbannscheidt picked up from where she left off last season, pacing all Garnet girls with a final time of 20:52.8 – eighth place overall. Ambrosini finished in 18th at 21:43.4. Madeleine Shingler, Kate Schatz, and Abby Providenti also raced, clocking in with times of 24:05.5, 26:38.3, and 27:08.7, respectively.
Two male racers crossed the finish line before the 20:00 mark – Ben Truman (65th) and Clayton Stark (67th). The rest of the field included Jackson Page, Leo Brizio, Will Morreale, Greydon Cast, and Daniel Morris.
