The Rye Girls Soccer team suffered their first non-victory of the 2025 season on Tuesday, September 9, as they drew Eastchester 0-0. The Garnets carried much of the play, but could not crack the Eagles’ defense in the deadlock.
“The Garnets maintained strong possession and worked tirelessly to break through the defensive shape of the Eagles,” Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com after the game. “Eastchester’s keeper had an impressive game, turning away several chances and keeping Rye off the scoreboard.”
This marks the first time this season Rye has been shut out, and the first time they have been held below three goals (they already have 4-1, 6-0, and 3-0 wins under their belt.)
“On the defensive end, Rye’s Claire Nemsick was composed and dominant, limiting Eastchester to just one shot on goal,” Savage added. Allowing just one non-dangeorus chance against is often a winning strategy no matter the opponent, but Rye just could not find the icebreaker on the other half of the pitch on Tuesday.
A busy week of games continues for the Garnets on Thursday, September 11, as the team hits the road for a 5:00pm match against Ursuline. Rye will enter that league game with a 3-0-1 record and a 1-0-1 mark in league play.
