The Rye Football team stayed undefeated with a 49-14 win over Nyack on Friday, October 17, closing out their slate of home regular season games with authority. The Garnets scored the first four touchdowns of the game, three of which were runs by Charlie Garnett, as they cruised to victory once again.
”I just saw consistency, which is a big part of what we stress as a staff,” Head Coach Dino Garr said of his team’s performance after the game. “Carson [Miller] was good as always, running a well-oiled machine.”
The star QB threw for 166 yards on just 12 attempts, two of which were touchdowns to his favorite targets, Sebastian Lewis and Henry Shoemaker. Miller also ran for a score, as did his late-game replacement Charlie Brady, whose house call went for 52 yards. The last touchdown scorer for the Garnets was TJ Neeves, who rumbled home from about 23 yards for “The touchdown” and play of the night.
“If this doesn’t make you feel good about football and sportsmanship, nothing will,” @RyeGarnetFootball posted on X on Saturday morning regarding Neeves’ first career touchdown. “Big thanks to @Nyackredhawksfb – these guys are all class.”
Nugent Stadium was extra crowded on Friday, as many members of the 2005 New York State championship team were in attendance. Soemtimes dubbed the greatest team in Rye Football history, the captains from the ’05 squad joined the current captains for the coin toss prior to the game. The team was also honored on the field prior to kickoff. They watched as the 2025 Garnets overwhelmed the Red Hawks on both sides of the ball, including a strip sack from Jack Levine, recovered by Ben Stigliano.
