Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving made waves against John Jay Cross River- North Salem on Friday, draining the competition with a 94 – 92 win.

“The win tonight was a full team effort,” said Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach Katie Konopka.

The divers Lucie Megret, Zoe Lopez, and Maddie Kennedy placed 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in the 1M diving. Megret had a season high 6 dive score of 228.90 and Jess Lafferty had a season high score of 154.50. Sophie Boyle had season best times in the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Grayson placed first in the 50 free and had season best times in the 50 free and 100 Free.

Quinn Boyle also had season best times in the 50 free and 100 free. Kate Chesley won the 200 IM and 100 Fly. Charlotte Tait placed 2nd and made her sectional cut in the 500 free. Ella Godden and Rory O’Byrne scored points in the 500 free. The A and B 200 free and 400 free relays placed 1st and 3rd respectively in each race, which was crucial to the team win.

“This was our Pink Out meet to support Rye Neck’s Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser,” said Konopka. “Today our swimmers and divers wore pink caps to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our team hosted a Swim-A-Thon at practice on Thursday 10/9 and raised a total of $870. The proceeds from the fundraiser will support Soul Ryeders and Cancer Research.”

The Garnets hold a 7 – 1 record.
