The undefeated Rye Football Team stayed that way on Friday, November 14, as they dominated Somers to the tune of a 40-17 victory. Rye completed the two-game sweep over the Tuskers in 2025 after their 17-7 win in Week One, avenge their 35-21 loss in this exact game last season, and advance to the Regional tournament, all with one complete effort.

“It was a great team effort all the way around,” Head Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com after the win. “Our players made plays, and of course Carson [Miller] did a great job getting the ball to his talented receivers.”

Miller threw for two touchdowns, both to superstar and Harvard commit Henry Shoemaker, and ran for three others to help the Garnets overcome a 7-0 first quarter deficit. He also recorded a key interception to help salt the game away, one of three turnovers for the Garnets’ defense that stepped up in a huge way.

Luke Denvir (fumble recovery) and Charlie Brady (interception) accounted for the other takeaways. The Denvir pounce led directly to a rushing score. Overall, Rye scored the final 27 points of the game, as they eclipsed the 40-point mark for the 8th time in 11 games, all wins.

“We played a great second half, showing our resolve,” Garr continued. “I’m very proud of our team.”

Rye (11-0) will look to both build off this marquee win and keep winning in their next game against fellow undefeated Section IX champion Minisink Valley on Friday, November 21. The matchup is set for Arlington High School with an unconfirmed start time of 7:00pm.

  1. I’m confused. I just watched the replay on Sports Engine, which had a final score of 35-21 Tuskers over Garnets. But you say the Garnets won 40-17?
