The Rye Football team faces off against Cornwall on Black Friday (November 28), with both teams looking to earn the right to play in the New York State championship game. The contest takes place at neutral site Middletown High School.

For the game preview, we turn to the Steve “The OG” Feeney, the voice of Garnet football:

Rye vs Cornwall               Friday, November 28 @ 6:00pm                     Middletown High School

The Garnets return to where the 2025 campaign began – Middletown High School. Recall Rye’s Week Zero season opener. The OG reflects back to early September: the Middletown Middie Bears could not stop Rye as the Garnets rolled up the Hudson by a 68-20 margin despite all efforts, including running time, to limit Rye’s powerful and diverse offense.
Now Rye returns to whence it came in early September – only this time, Middletown is a neutral site for the NYSPHSAA East Regional Final matching Rye against Section Nine runner-up, the Green and White of Cornwall. Believe it or not some football lore exists between the Garnets and the Green Dragons, albeit confined to post-season play (2018 & 2019) and a Week Zero contest (2022).
It’s time for the Rye Garnets to stonewall Cornwall as the Garnets march to Syracuse continues northward. Just like Puff the Magic Dragon, the Cornwall Green Dragons go up in smoke as the Garnets rumble 42-28.
