The top-ranked Rye Football team will look to clinch a Section 1 Class A championship on Friday, November 14, as they meet up with familiar foe Somers. The Garnets defeated the Tuskers 17-7 in Week One at home, but fell in the championship game last year to the same school. This has the potential to be an all-time classic.

For the game preview, we turn to the Steve “The OG” Feeney, the voice of Garnet football:

Rye vs Somers – Section 1 Class A Final

If you attended the RFA Poker Night you probably DOUBLED DOWN at least once. OG says DOUBLE DOWN on the Garnets.

I DOUBLE DARE you to support the Tuskers. OG says DOUBLE DARE SOMERS.

The Rye Garnets and Somers Tuskers have dominated Section One Class A Football for the past decade – a real DOUBLE PLAY. Garnets sweep the regular season and playoff battles – another DOUBLE PLAY.

Two Rye victories over Somers in the same season equals a DOUBLE DIP. Rye beat Harrison earning a DOUBLE DIP in the brook.

Miller to Shoemaker equals DOUBLE TROUBLE. O-Line opening holes for Charlie Garnett is another DOUBLE TROUBLE.

The Garnet defense allows only 17 points per game. DOUBLE JEOPARDY if you think Somers scores more. Somers versus Rye twice in a season definitely DOUBLE JEOPARDY.

The Garnet and Black lead the historical series 11-10-0 (.524) due to Rye’s 2025 regular season 17-7 victory in the 2025 Kickoff Classic played in Week One.

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE as two Section One Blue Bloods square off in the Class A Final at neutral site Mahopac High School.

The Old Garnet calls this one 24-14 as Rye survives and advances in state play.
