The Rye Hockey team kicked off their third and potentially final trip to upstate New York with a 3-3 tie on Friday, January 23, stalemating Shenendehowa. The Garnets overcame an early two-goal deficit for the hard-fought tie, as neither team could find the winner at the end of regulation or in overtime.
“We really showed our resilience tonight,” Head Coach Pete Thomas told MyRye.com. “After allowing two power play goals and digging ourselves a 2-0 hole, we responded with two of our own.”
Jamie Morris scored two goals, one unassisted and one from Luke Davies. Max Niejadlik struck first for Rye off an assist from his brother Will. Fernando Mosquero bounced back for a strong back half of the game, ending with 30 saves on 33 shots against.
Rye (9-2-2) has a quick turnaround for their 11:30am game today, Saturday 1/24, against Queensbury. After that, the Garnets will head home, weather permitting.
