The Rye Girls Golf team is coming off a league championship in 2025 and a second-place finish in Section 1 as part of a 12-3 record, setting expectations high for the 2026 campaign. Their schedule offers a mix of league challenges, other opponents within the section, and the postseason in May.

“We are looking forward to the challenge of defending our 2025 league title and competing for a spot in the team sectional tournament,” Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye before the season began. “Our schedule is very competitive, which should prepare our players well for tough matches throughout the season. The goal is to continue developing while competing against some of the best teams in the section.”

One of those teams is the reigning section champion Scarsdale, who Rye comepte with neck-and-neck every year at the top of the standings. “Competing against a program of that caliber is a great challenge and opportunity for our team,” Savage told MyRye.com. “It’s the type of match that helps our players grow and measure themselves against the very best.”

New on the docket for the Garnets this spring is a pair of crossover matches against other New York State opponents in Wappinger Falls and Yorktown. Those contests are mandatory as part of league rules and present a new opportunity for the Garnets to golf against new competition.

“Those matches add another level of challenge and excitement to the schedule,” Savage said prior to the season.

Rye will have to move forth without last year’s MVP Myla Bisceglia, which is production that will be difficult to fill. Two girls expected to step up are captains Anna Bancroft and Phoebe Lee. Bancroft enters her junior season after a strong year, while Lee, a senior, will look to claim All-League honors for the second consecutive season.

“Both players played important roles in last season’s success and are respected leaders within the team,” Savage said of his captains. “They lead by example with their work ethic and commitment, and they are excited to guide the team during the 2026 season.”

League play begins on April 9 and continues for about one action-packed month. Rye will play multiple matches per week throughout the season, looking to improve each day before the sectional tournament and individual State tournaments towards the end of the spring.
