
The Rye Softball game emphatically snapped their losing streak on Thursday, April 24, mercying Pelham 19-0 in five innings. The Garnets scored eight runs in the first, four in the second, and seven in the third, giving the Pelicans no chance from first pitch.
Head Coach Alex Tejera was able to empty the bench after the torrent start. The Garnets’ lineup combined for fourteens hits and ten walks, compared to just twelve outs and two strikeouts. Five different starters had multiple hits in the game, highlighted by a 3-3, 3-run, 3-RBI performance from Caroline Joyce. All but one Garnet batter recorded either a run, an RBI, or both.
Georgina Gilmore excelled in the circle for the shutout, recording all 15 outs and only allowing three baserunners. She struck out five for the victory.
Rye (2-6) will look to build off this performance in their next game on Saturday, April 25. The Garnets head to Mahopac for a morning road contest at 11:00am to kick off a stretch of five road games out of the next seven.
