The Rye Boys Lacrosse team suffered a close loss to Cold Spring Harbor on Wednesday, April 1, falling 12-11. The Garnets and Seahawks both went on several runs throughout the game, but it was the visitors who held off a late Rye push to hold on for the victory.

“We started off slow and went down 6-2, but picked it and went into halftime winning,” Head Coach Jeremy Guski told MyRye.com. “We had a sloppy third quarter and battled back in the fourth quarter.”

Rye fell behind by four quickly early in the second quarter, but rattled off a 6-0 run before allowing a late-half goal to make the score 8-7 at the break. The Seahawks bounced back to win the third quarter 3-1, and an insurance goal with 3:24 remaining in regulation time rendered the Garnets’ comeback insufficient.

Harvard commit Carson Miller led all players with six goals, doing so on seven shots and adding one assist. Will Niejadlik followed close behind with five tallies, as he and Miller accounted for the entirely of the goal scoring. They were frequently set up by Henry Shoemaker (four assists) and Henry Gilroy (two assists).

The Garnets (1-1) next play again at home against Garden City High School at 5:00pm on Wednesday, April 8. Watch it here. Replay the most recent loss here.
