In an anemic turnout Tuesday, the Rye City School District 2026-2027 budget passed by a landslide with 80% in favor and 20% against. Only 537 total votes were cast.

In 2025, there were 11,121 registered voters eligible to vote in the District (school officials were unable to provide the current 2026 number as of press time). This means fewer than 5% of Rye voters turned out to vote, and less than 4% of total Rye voters voted in favor of the $117 million Rye City School District budget (and less than 1% voted against the budget).

429 yes 79.89%
108 no 20.11%
537 total 100%

Shaun Kloepfer (incumbent) and Emily Borell (new candidate) won their uncontested races for the two open Board of Education seats. Kloepfer earned 442 votes (82% of voters) and Borell 461 votes (86% of voters).

These are the unofficial results as reported by the school district. All results will be certified by the County.
