Overview:
The City of Rye Planning Commission is taking another step forward with The Osborn Home's expansion plan. At a recent meeting, the Commission issued a negative declaration under the State Environmental Quality Review Act, indicating no significant adverse environmental impact.

The City of Rye Planning Commission took an additional step towards its approval of The Osborn Home’s expansion plan on Tuesday evening, June 6, 2026. The Osborn Home is about to undergo a significant expansion.
At its meeting, the Commission issued a negative declaration under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). This means the board has determined the proposed development will not have any significant adverse environmental impact and as such does not require a lengthy environmental impact statement process.
The Commission also received and began to discuss the final review (see the letter) from its outside consultants La Bella related to the plan, with primary attention around storm water and flooding concerns. The letter dated, arriving only Monday, June 8, did not seem to prompt any particular concerns among the Commission members but members and staff will take additional time for review. It is reasonable to expect the Planning Commission will draw a conclusion on its approval at the next Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, June 23.
