The total United States soccer organization United Soccer Coaches released their national list of 2025–2026 High School Scholar All-Americans on July 23, and Rye Boys Soccer senior Lex Cox was on the list.
“Lex thoroughly deserves this fantastic honor,” his former head coach Jared Small told MyRye.com. “He led our team to the state finals, was immense both in his attacking and brave in his defending, and has earned his way academically and athletically onto a national championship contending team at one of the country’s premier universities.”
Cox, Rye’ Athlete of the Month in October 2025, wrapped up his fourth year at the varsity level by leading the Garnets to the state championship game. He does not put up flashy offensive numbers as a left back, but is known for his field vision with the ball on his foot. He was also the Garnets’ most recent primary penalty kick taker.
In the classroom, Cox finished his senior year with a 3.95 cumulative GPA. He is one of just five boys soccer players from the entire state of New York to earn this prestigious honor.
