Doris D. Ross, affectionately known as Dede, was born on April 22, 1945, in Greenwich, Connecticut, and passed away on September 21, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Dede lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. She was the beloved wife of George C. Ross for 58 years, having married him on September 7, 1968, at St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison, New York.
She was the cherished mother of George C. Ross Jr. and his wife Liz, Michael D. Ross, and Katie C. Dooney. She was also a treasured grandmother to George C. Ross III, Davis P. Ross, Graham H. Ross, Charlie D. Ross, Maggie D. Dooney, and Jack Dooney. Her grandchildren brought her great delight, and she held each of them close to her heart. She is also survived by her siblings, Gray Davis, Anne Pinkham, William R. Davis, and Barry Davis, all of whom shared in the many memories and bonds of family that enriched her life.
Dede received her education at Mary Mount High School in Tarrytown, New York, and later attended Lasalle College in Needham, Massachusetts.
Her life of service was reflected in her many roles and associations. Dede served as Chair of the board of The School of the Holy Child and as a Member of the Ladies Auxiliary Board of St. Vincent’s Hospital. In these positions, she gave generously of her time, leadership, and compassion.
Faith was an important part of Dede’s life. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, New York, where she found fellowship and spiritual comfort.
Dede also enjoyed the fellowship and leisure of her longtime membership at Westchester Country Club and Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia. These associations were part of a full and active life, and she valued the friendship and experience they provided.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Church of the Resurrection at 11AM.
