The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck Girls Swim and Dive team suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, September 25, as they fell to Mahopac-Putnam Valley-Carmel 99-95. RBBRN jumped out to an early lead, but watched as MPVC stormed back to complete the comeback.
“The team started the meet out strong, placing first through third in 1M diving,” head coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com. “Rye Neck 9th grader Miyu Akahira had two personal best time in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.”
Lucie Megret, Claire Biddle, and Zoe Lopez all placed higher than any opposing divers to set the tone. The rookie Akahira’s two personal bests pave the way for her to become an impact contributor down the stretch.
In the swimming events, only Quinn Boyle came away with a first place finish, doing so in the 50 free. Clare McGlynn earned second in the 200 individual medley and 100 free. Kalani Lee placed second in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.
Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck (1-1) heads to Sarah Lawrence College for their next meet on Wednesday, September 30. RBBRN faced Bronxville-Tuckahoe for their first road meet of the season at 4:30pm.
