The Rye Girls Soccer team kept up their unbeaten streak with a 5-0 victory over Pelham on Monday, September 28, their 32rd straight positive result. The Garnets and Pelicans played to a 0-0 draw less than a week ago, but the Pelham defensive shell could only withstand so much pressure.
Charlotte Keenan scored a natural hat trick, accounting for the Garnets’ first three goals. Two came in the first half and the other came at the beginning of the second, which freshman Penny Timchak assisted.
Fiona Marino scored her first goal of the year to extend the lead to four before Keenan capped off her stellar night with a helper on Finlay Gibbs’ first varsity goal. Blake Sasse played the entire game in goal and made five saves when she was called upon.
“Eleanor Pandl and Julia Carballo turned in strong performances defensively,” head coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “The Garnets also welcomed back sophomore Ella Fleckton, who made her return after recovering from a knee injury.”
Rye (5-0-2) has a date with Eastchester in their next game on Thursday, October 1, yet another contest game for Savage and the Garnets. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm.
