RowAmerica Rye delivered a signature performance at the famous Head of the Charles regatta from October 16-18, 2026, as they clinched first place in the team competition by earning the most points spread across a plethora of events. Thirteen youth crews represented the organization in Cambridge and Boston, MA, and they combined to score more points than any other youth program in attendance – which included both domestic and international competitors.

“This remarkable accomplishment reflects the depth, consistency, and competitive excellence of the entire team,” RowAmerica Rye Director of Rowing Marko Serafimovski told MyRye.com. “Beyond the medals and impressive finishes, what makes this performance particularly meaningful is the consistency across so many crews and age groups. Success at this level is not the result of a single standout boat, but rather a reflection of the collective commitment, hard work, and dedication of the athletes, coaches, and the entire RowAmerica Rye community.”

Several boats in both men’s and women’s heats placed in the top ten, with the Women’s Youth 8+ and Men’s U17 4+ boats clinching first place finishes. For the women, this marks their fifth consecutive Head of the Charles title. The men’s B boat in the U17 4+ race came in second, meaning both the top two finishers came from Rye.

Other impressive finishes include: the Women’s U17 8+ boat, which placed 22nd overall but first among racers of their age; the Women’s Youth 4+, which placed second in a highly-competitive field; the Men’s Youth 8+, who placed eighth in one of the largest races at the regatta; and the Women’s Masters Double, which finished in ninth place.

“The Head of the Charles is a truly unique and prestigious event, providing an opportunity to compete against some of the strongest rowing programs from around the world,” Serafimovski said. “While these results are certainly worth celebrating, the regatta also serves as an important milestone in our preparation for the spring racing season and, ultimately, the USRowing Youth National Championships. We are incredibly proud of our athletes and coaches for their dedication, teamwork, and continued pursuit of excellence.”

As Serafimovski alluded to, the major event on the RowAmerica Rye calendar for the rest of the 2026-27 season is the USRowing Youth National Championships. Rye will have plenty of time to train and compete before the marquee regatta, which takes place in the second week of June 2027.
