The Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF) will hold a Household Recycling Day (HRD) event at Rye Playland on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The event offer a convenient way to safely dispose of household chemicals, electronics, unwanted medications and other materials that require special handling and should not go in regular household trash.
“We all have things sitting around our homes that we are not quite sure how to get rid of, whether it is old paint, electronics or household chemicals,” said Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins. “These recycling events give our residents an easy way to dispose of those materials safely and responsibly. It is a simple but important step we can all take to protect our environment and keep potentially harmful materials out of our regular waste stream.”
The Playland event is on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Playland Park, 1 Playland Parkway, Rye.
