pRYEde Flags Back Up in Wake of Hateful Flag Burning

The Bradford Avenue homeowner who founder her LGBTQ+ Pride flag burned overnight last Friday has replaced the one lost flag with two new ones. In addition, the local pRYEde community group has sold 36 pRYEde flags since Saturday and received an additional $600 in donations from Rye families.
If local businesses would like to display a flag, the pRYEde group has a number of family sponsors that will underwrite the costs. Businesses can contact Amanda Timchak and Genevieve Weber via email [email protected] and request a flag.
The flag burning remains under active investigation by the Rye PD. A spokesperson from the Westchester DA’s office told MyRye.com “Our Office is working with police. Once a suspect is arrested then there is a determination of a “hate crime.” Intent weighs heavily under the NYS hate crime statutes.”
