In Memory: Virginia Doris Washa, Age 93
Virginia Doris Washa, a long time resident of Old Bethpage, New York passed away on January 20, 2021 at the age of 93. Virginia was born to Marion and Ulysse Boldrini in Rye, New York and grew up in Flushing, Queens. She began working at PepsiCo as a receptionist and was voted Miss Pepsi in 1946. It was there where she met and fell in love with Lieutenant Carl Washa, a US Army Fighter Pilot who had just returned from service in World War II.
She married at the age of 20, and for 38 years, they shared a storybook love, completely devoted to each other. They enjoyed golf, traveling and were blessed with many good friends. While we will miss the ease with which we could make her laugh, we are comforted knowing she is reunited with her adoring husband who departed this life 35 years ago.
Virginia is predeceased by her brother, Danny and sister, Gloria. She is survived by her daughter Joan Marie, son-in-law Schuyler of Richmond, Virginia; four grandchildren: Katie-Carlyn (Clark), Schuyler Maxwell, Gray Thomas, Caroline Virginia, and a great-grandson, Christopher Maxwell, all of whom she was very proud.
Due to Covid 19, a blessing of the casket and burial prayer will be held outside of St. Pius X Church in Plainview on January 26, 2021 at 9:30 am. A private interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in her memory to St. Pius X Church, Plainview, New York where she has been an active, long term parishioner.
