Girls Varsity Soccer Falls to Albertus Magnus in Season Opener
Rye Girls Varsity Soccer fell to nationally ranked Albertus Magnus 4-1 in its season opener Saturday.
“Rye fought a tough battle against the Section 1 number ranked team Albertus Magnus,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Rich Savage. “Magnus got on the scoreboard early – scoring in the first 20 seconds of the game and last two minutes of the first half to go up 2 -0 at the half.”
“Rye battled back with a goal by sophomore Maddy Walsh, assisted by senior captain Reilly Traynor,” continued Savage. “Magnus’s Gabby Chan scored all 4 goals for the Falcons. Goalie Bell Jackson had 7 saves in the game while Magnus keeper had 8 saves for the win.”
Rye will travel to Eastchester on Monday for that team’s first league game of the season. Game start is 4:30pm
