In Memory: Robert John Massie, Age 77
Robert John Massie passed away on December 8,2023 at the age of 77. Robert was born to parents Gladys (McGrath) Massie and John Ralph Massie in Rye, New York. He grew up in Rye, graduating from Rye High School.
Robert served proudly in the United States Navy, with service in the state of Hawaii, being a favorite trip destination in years to follow.
He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, having worked in Connecticut and in New York City. Upon retirement, he and his dear wife, Barbara, moved to milder winters in Hobe Sound, Florida area.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and John Massie, his wife, Barbara Massie, and his brother, John Massie of Kansas City, Missouri.
Robert is survived by his 2 sons, Robert John Massie, of Cornwall, NY/Greenwich, CT and Brian Thomas Massie, of Las Vegas NV; his Grandson, Sullivan Massie of Wilmington, NC; his siblings Patricia Santoro (NY) and Louise Massie (CT); and many nieces and nephews living in NY, CT, and MO.
Robert will be dearly missed by his family, and the many friends he has made over the years who knew him as “Moose Massie.”
A Memorial Mass for Robert will be held at the Resurrection Catholic Church, in Rye, New York, at 10:00AM on January 20, 2024.
