In Memory: Patricia T. Levine, Age 90
Patricia T. Levine, affectionately known as Pat to her friends, and Mom, Grandma, and “Bepa” to family, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, at the age of 90 in Rye, NY. Born on January 12, 1934, in Oneonta, NY, Pat was a beacon of light, shining brightly in the lives of those around her. Her friendly demeanor and thoughtful actions made her a cherished figure in her community. Her kind-hearted nature made her a beloved friend to all who knew her.
Patricia’s life was marked by service and dedication. After studying at Oneonta State College, she embarked on a path that blended her passion for community service with a business career. In the early 1970s, she was the communications director for Citizens for Sound Planning, where she played a pivotal role in the defeat of the proposed Rye-Oyster Bay Bridge.
Her drive for civic engagement led her to the political arena, where she was elected to the Rye City Council for three consecutive terms in the late 1970s and 1980s. Patricia’s contributions to her community during her tenure were marked by her considered approach and her unwavering dedication to the citizens of Rye.
In the 1980s, Pat transitioned back to the corporate world, bringing her wealth of experience and insight to Development Counsellors International (DCI) as a Vice President. Working closely with her husband Ted and her son Andy, her leadership and exceptional client service left an indelible mark on the organization.
After her retirement in 2010, Patricia built on her commitment to community service, lending her expertise and guidance in a new role as an officer and board member of the Milton Harbor House co-op. Her efforts ensured that the 88-unit complex on the Long Island Sound remained a vibrant and welcoming community for all its residents.
Beyond her professional and civic accomplishments, Pat was a woman of many interests and talents. She found joy in playing the piano, immersing herself in art, and exploring new places. Pat had a curious spirit and a deep love of learning. She was an avid non-fiction reader, and journeyed into Manhattan weekly to attend college-level courses well into her 80s.
Most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her friends and family, creating memories that would be treasured for generations to come.
Patricia is survived by her loving family: her sons, David and Andy Levine; her daughter-in-law, Felicia Levine; her son-in-law, Ira Tobert; and her adored grandchildren, Terry, Evan, and Georgina Levine. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted Levine, and her son, Jeffrey Levine. Each family member will carry forward her legacy. Her memory will be held in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
As we bid farewell to Patricia T. Levine, we celebrate a life well-lived — a life filled with purpose, generosity, and an enduring love for those around her.
