Vesey Street Staircase at Ground Zero
The Vesey Street or "survivor" staircase at Ground Zero is viewable on the top half of the photo. The awning covering the PATH station is in the right foreground. The staircase is the only remaining piece of the World Trade Center above ground. In May, the National Trust for Historic Preservation placed the staircase on its list of America’s most endangered historic places. There is some controversy in regards to some that want to move the staircase. Photo taken August 24, 2006.
