The season came to an end for the Rye Varsity Volleyball Team on Monday evening, as the #7 Garnets fell to #2 Byram Hills in straight sets. Although the match was tightly contested at times, the Bobcats got the better of the Garnets too many times down the stretch, winning all three by at least 8 points.

“Sadly, our season came to an end with a loss to Byram Hills,” Head Coach Geri Jones told MyRye.com after the game. “The team is disappointed with the outcome.”

Despite the loss, Jones was appreciative of her team’s compete level both on Monday, but also the entire season. “[We] overcame great adversity this year and displayed great camaraderie. As a coach, I am proud of every single one of the these girls – they gave it their all this season.”

Highlights of the season include a strong second place finish at the midseason Walter Panas tournament, a five-game win streak to end the regular season (including a sweep vs Mahopac on senior night), an impressive road win over Harrison, and setter Ashley Dehmer crossing the 1000-assist mark in her senior season.

Rye finishes the year 13-7 in total, including 1-1 in the playoffs. Watch the final game vs the Bobcats here.
