Swimming and Diving Dominates the Wappingers on Senior Night

The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swimming and Diving Team picked up their fourth team win of the season on Friday, January 24, defeating the Wappingers 96-55. The team moves to 4-6 on the season with the big win on senior night.
“Tonight the Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook swim team celebrated RHS senior Michael Ladyzhensky prior to the start of the swim meet against Wappingers,” Head Coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com after the meet. “Ladyzhensky placed 2nd in the 200-meter individual medley and swam in all three relays.”
Underclassmen also showed up in a strong way for Konopka, highlighted by Nicks Stocks winning the 200M freestyle and placing second in the 100M butterfly. George Papaioannou continued a strong season by finishing first in the 100M butterfly. Kieran Moran won the 50M freestyle and 100M breaststroke.
Jackson Rindahl secured personal best times in the 20M0 IM and 100M backstroke. Austin Frankel swam a best time in the 200M freestyle. Henri Von Homeyer raced the 500M freestyle for the first time.
Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook wrap up their season, their first in league two, at a respectable 4-6. Their next scheduled event is the Section 1 Championship meet on Saturday, February 1, at 9:00am. The team travels to Mark Twain Middle School in Yonkers for the large meet with all the other section 1 schools they have been racing against all year. After that, some individuals will head to states.
