Kimberly Williams-Paisley, born on September 14, 1971, in Rye, New York, is an acclaimed actress, director, and author best known for her breakout role as Annie Banks in the 1991 romantic comedy Father of the Bride and its 1995 sequel.

Early Life, Education, and Connection to Rye

Kimberly Payne Williams was raised in Rye, New York. Her father, Gurney Williams III, was a health and science writer, and her mother, Linda Williams, worked as a fundraiser. She attended Rye High School and graduated in 1989. Her interest in theater took root when she began acting at the age of 13. As a senior, she directed the Rye High School Musical Revue.

After high school, Williams went on to attend Northwestern University’s prestigious School of Communication. She left during her sophomore year after being cast in Father of the Bride but later returned to complete her degree in drama.

Acting and Writing Career

Williams-Paisley rose to national fame with her portrayal of Annie Banks in Father of the Bride, opposite Steve Martin and Diane Keaton. The film’s success catapulted her into the spotlight and led to a successful career in both film and television. She is also well known for her long-running role as Dana on the ABC sitcom According to Jim (2001–2009), as well as recurring roles on hit shows like Nashville and Two and a Half Men.

Her talents extend beyond acting. In 2006, she wrote, directed, and starred in the short film Shade, which won several festival awards. In 2016, she published a memoir, Where the Light Gets In: Losing My Mother Only to Find Her Again, chronicling her family’s journey through her mother’s diagnosis with primary progressive aphasia, a form of dementia.

Williams-Paisley is married to country music star Brad Paisley. The couple has two sons and is known for their philanthropic efforts, particularly around Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
