
He is a retired United Airlines flight attendant who has pushed an airline beverage cart more than 750 miles along routes symbolizing the flight paths of the four aircraft hijacked on September 11, 2001.
Paul “Paulie” Veneto walked through Rye twice before, in 2021 and 2024 to honor those on American Flight 11 from Boston to New York. He is on his way to Rye once again and is expected to pass through the City on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, 2026. On Friday, Veneto was expected to push his cart from Fairfield to Westport, just 30 miles away from Rye.
In 2022, he pushed from Washington-Dulles to the Pentagon for American Flight 77. In 2023, he pushed from Newark-Liberty to the National Flight 93 Memorial in Stoystown/Shanksville. Last year was a planned hiatus to work on logistics and overall planning.
The plan is to arrive at Ground Zero in downtown Manhattan in time for the 25th commemoration September 11th.
