Varsity Girls Soccer tied Mamaroneck 1-1 in a double overtime game Tuesday night at Nugent Stadium. “Reilly Traynor a terrific head goal putting the Garnets up 1-0 with five minutes left in regulation time,” said Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “Mamaroneck responded with a goal two minutes later to tie up the game.”
The Garnets battled to a tie with a very tough double AA opponent. As the game progressed, the Garnets gained more confidence on the field and started to move the ball well. The work rate of Zoe Rockas and Meredith Tutun really help the Garnets attack Mamaroneck. Rye’s back line had a solid day defending to hold Mamaroneck to just one goal as they had the top two scorers in the section in their team.
Varsity Girls Soccer moves its season to 8-0-1.
