Marion E. Glennon ObituaryThe Glennon family mourns the loss of Marion E. Glennon, who passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 89. Marion was a long-time resident of Rye, having lived there for over 55 years. She was born in Larchmont, NY, the eldest of seven children, to Stephen P. Glennon and Helen Barrett Glennon.

Marion is survived by her brother, Charles V. Glennon (Kate) of Harrison, NY, and her sisters, Frances Glennon Dunlop and Anne (Nancy) Glennon McIntosh, both of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Glennon Malloy (Thomas), Patricia Glennon Whamond (James), and her brother, Stephen P. Glennon Jr.. Marion is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Marion graduated from Sacred Heart, Greenwich, CT and received her BA from Trinity College in 1958. She went on to have a distinguished 40-year career with IBM, specializing as a senior systems analyst. After retiring, she returned to work as the Development Director at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx, where she served for five years. In 2010, Marion retired, and with love and great enthusiasm she dove into giving her time to her family, friends, and charitable work. She had a great talent for connecting with all ages of people from all walks of life!

Marion was an active member of the Larchmont Yacht Club for over 50 years. An accomplished bridge player, she was admired for her skill, sharp intuition, and love of the game. (Some player might have even feared her!) A committed volunteer, Marion served on numerous boards and committees, including as a member of Sacred Heart Greenwich’s “Green Team,” Chair of Trinity College’s Alumnae Association, Board Chair of Poningo Neck Corporation in Rye, NY, and as an area chair for the Westchester Order of Malta. Her devotion to service also extended to religious counseling for women inmates at Bedford Correctional Facility, where she volunteered for over ten years. Her earlier years were spent volunteering at the Good Counsel Homeless Shelter and the Junior League of Westchester.

The Order of Malta gave Marion her greatest joy and to which she gave her precious time and energy in more recent years. She served as Area Chair of the Westchester Order of Malta and her love for giving was exemplified through her work as a Dame of Malta, making 15 trips to Lourdes to support the sick. In 2024, she returned to Lourdes as a patient herself, bravely battling lung cancer. Marion’s warmth, wit, and compassion touched everyone she met. Known affectionately as “Auntie Marsie,” she will be deeply missed but forever cherished by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Friends may call at Graham Funeral Home, Rye NY on Tuesday July 15th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. In celebration of her life, a Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY, at 10am on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In leu of Flowers, donations can be made to Swim Across America.
