The Rye Field Hockey team continued to rain its offensive downpour on its opponents, as the Garnets smoked Roy C. Ketcham 7-0 on Wednesday, September 17. Rye has scored at least five goals in four of their five wins, while also recording their fourth shutout.
“Sienna Myers had great shots at the top of the circle during the game,” Head Coach Valerie Perkins told MyRye.com after the contest. “On one of our corners she had a great hit that Jules Karmilowicz was able to get a tip on and score.”
Karmilowicz scored twice for her first two tallies of the young season, while the rest of the offense came from the usual suspects – Liv Prata (one goal, three points), Beau Whaling (two goals, three points), Sienna Myers (one goal, two points), and Kaitlyn Coyne (one goal). Maggie Swanson also stepped up with two assists as Rye shared the ball very effectively against the overmatched Ketcham defense.
“Liv Prata, Issy Mann and Beau Whaling have been doing a great job working together to create scoring opportunities,” Perkins continued. “Cate Puzzuoli and Thea Fairhurst had great hustle and possession to shut down Ketcham’s offense early.”
The Garnets (5-1) have outscored opponents 34-5 through six games, as both their offense and defense rank among the best in the area. They will look for another victory in their next game, scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, September 20, against an out-of-region opponent at Nugent Stadium. Watch it here.
