In the wake of the recent column Holding Court: Private Roads by retired Judge Joe Latwin, we received a number of inquiries on how many private roads were in Rye, and which roads are private. We contacted city officials, who provided a list. Here is the list of private roads (streets) in Rye, listed alphabetically with each one hyperlinked to a Google map showing its location.

Thank you for providing the list. Who knew there are this many private roads. The accompanying photo is captioned no city maintenance. I assume that means no snow removal or repaving. What I am left wondering is whether I need an invitation by a resident to walk or bicycle on these 83 roads without the risk of arrest for criminal trespass. Might our city officials be able to provide an answer. Thanks, Mitch krapes
We have put these questions to the city and will report back after we speak with officials.
