In a letter to MyRye.com, Councilman and GOP Mayoral Candidate Bill Henderson responds to Mayor Josh Cohn’s October 10 letter published on these pages. He reminds readers that both major parties condemned Mayor Cohn’s actions in June 2023 (see: Dems & GOP Jointly Call For Mayor’s Gang of Four to Resign).
Henderson’s letter:
October 12, 2025
Dear MyRye:
I, the Henderson half of “Henderson/Nathan,” read Mayor Josh Cohn’s letter of October 10 to MyRye: “Rye’s REAL Ethics Violation: Tarring Innocent Volunteers Carolina Johnson, Julie Souza and Ben Stacks.” A better understanding of this unfortunate time in our City’s history can be gained by watching videotapes of the City Council’s meetings between February 6, 2023, and August 9, 2023. These videotapes can be found on the City’s website.
Over two years ago, both major parties in Rye condemned the Mayor’s actions – showing that the two-party system can work for the public benefit. The Rye citizenry apparently also disagreed with the Mayor’s arguments by voting out his majority faction in November 2023.
January 1 is fast approaching, and I wish the Mayor a happy and healthy retirement. In the next few weeks up to Election Day, I will be focused on the future of Rye. Time is too short, and elected officials should be focused on serving the public, not by being overly distracted by personal grievances.
Best regards,
Bill Henderson
