Rye came out fast and furious to capture a 4–0 win over league rival Byram Hills and finish the regular season as undefeated league champions.
Just two minutes into the match, Shira Rand sprinted down the sideline and delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Hannah Jachman, who calmly tucked the ball into the back of the net to open the scoring. Within five minutes, Harkin Brown received a crisp pass from Charlotte Keenan and buried a shot into the upper-right corner to give Rye a 2–0 advantage. Shortly after, Hannah struck again with another tremendous shot, extending the lead to 3–0.
Shira Rand would later finish one of her own chances after making a strong defensive play. The back line of Julia Carballo, Claire Curran, and Ella Fleckton stood tall, keeping the Bobcats off the scoreboard. In goal, Tessa Labovitz made three key saves to preserve the shutout for the Garnets, who close out their regular season as undefeated league champions with a record of 13–0–3.
The Garnets will host the opening round of the playoffs at Rye High School’s Nugent Stadium on Saturday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m., with their opponent yet to be determined.
