
The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swimming and Diving team earned fourth place out of eight teams at the 2026 Conference 3 Championship meet from January 29-31, capping off a solid season. The Garnet Trojans had several standout performers and edged out fifth-place Bronxville – New Rochelle to finish in the top half of their conference.
“Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook had a great Conference 3 Championship meet,” Head Coach Katie Konopka lauded after the festivities ended on Saturday. “Finn Hansen had a great start to the meet on Thursday, placing fifth at the diving portion of the championship meet… many swimmers swam lifetime bests times at the meet.”
After the diving competition on Thursday, Rye – Blind Brook geared up for swimming on Saturday, which included five total relay teams spread across the three team heats, plus an additional nine events with a varied range of 1-4 Garnet Trojan participants in each one. The results breakdown was as follows:
200M Medley relay: The A-team of Charlie Thigpen, Filip Glitterstam, Wilson Redd, and Nick Stocks placed fifth with their best time as a group. The B-team of Jackson Rindahl, Sami Jazbeh, Vlad Moscaliuc, Henri Von Homeyer came in 9th.
200 Free relay: Thigpen, Glitterstam, Stocks, and Redd finished in third place in a best-time performance. The B-team of Daniel Morris, Finn Hansen, George Papaioannou, Owen Picker followed up in ninth place.
400 Free relay: The A-team of George Papaioannou, Vlad Moscaliuc, Sami Jazbeh, Owen Picker ended in seventh.
200 Free: Nick Stocks (10th), Owen Picker (13th), Michael Hamlet (24th, with a personal best time), and Tipu Ghosh (27th, with a personal best time) all competed.
200 Individual Medley: The racers were George Papaioannou (14th place), Vlad Moscaliuc (17th and a PR), Jackson Rindahl (21st and a PR), and Henri Von Homeyer (23rd).
50 Free: Wilson Redd swam a best time and finished in third. Charlie Thigpen (9th), Daniel Morris (24th), and Ethan Morris (30th, plus a PR) also competed.
100 Free: Redd (5th + PR) and Nick Stocks (6th) helped Rye – Rye Neck -Blind Brook on the scoreboard. Filip Glitterstam (10th) and Sami Jazbeh (22nd) and placed in the event.
100 Breaststroke: Glitterstam came in tenth again, followed by Vlad Moscaliuc in 14th, Jazbeh in 16th, and Von Homeyer in 25th place.
100 Fly: George Papaioannou touched the final wall in 8th, just ahead of Thigpen in 9th. Darren Sinha also competed and came in the top 20 at 19th.
100 Back: Jackson Rindahl, Sinha, and Tipu Ghosh all placed between 16th and 20th, with Ghosh finishing with a personal best time.
500 Free: Owen Picker was the only Garnet Trojan to swim this long-distance event, coming in seventh place and finishing with a new PR.
Overall, Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook ends the season with a very solid fourth place finish of 215 points in Conference 3. Playing in the new merged teams league, the Garnet Trojans went 4-3, plus a non-league loss to Harrison. It was a fine year for the group and Coach Konopka, and some individuals will still have a chance to compete in states to wrap up the Swim and Dive campaign altogether in February.
