The year 1976, America’s Bicentennial, was packed with cultural moments that defined the era. At the box office, Rocky became an unexpected sensation, telling the underdog story of a small-time Philadelphia boxer and launching Sylvester Stallone to stardom. Television audiences were glued to shows like Happy Days, All in the Family, and The Six Million Dollar Man, which captured both the humor and social tensions of the decade. On the radio, disco and soft rock dominated, with hits such as Disco Inferno by The Trammps and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee.

The Rye High School Bi-Centennial Class of 1976 will hold their 50 year reunion on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, 2026.
