The Rye YMCA Gymnastics team excelled at the 2026 National Championships from June 28-July 1, as the team secured eight medals and several other personal best scores on the tallest stage. Nine girls represented Rye in Greensboro, NC, and their success at the tournament is the final chapter of a very successful season.
“We are incredibly proud of every gymnast who competed at Nationals,” head coach Shelly Schettino said. “From national medalists and top finishes to personal best performances, these athletes demonstrated the hard work and commitment they bring to the gym every day. Their success is a testament to their dedication and the support of their families and coaches.”
Kaitlin Kelly led the way for the Rye Y with five medals, including a fourth-place overall finish with a score of 37.07. Her fellow Xcel Silver teammate Amanda Coniglio finished just behind Kelly with a 35.52, earning three national medals and ending up in 10th place overall.
Emery McKinney and Lily Warren also competed for the Rye Y in the Xcel Silver division, with McKinney placing seventh on floor exercise with a 9.40 and Warren scoring a personal best 8.875 on balance beam.
Level 2 gymnasts Alice Brown (11th place on vault) and Miu Sasaki (personal best on floor exercise) also closed their seasons and very high notes. At Level 3, Addie O’Mary placed top-12 on both vault and floor exercise. Teammate Simone Ramirez earned a personal best on vault with an 8.80.
The overall success of the Rye YMCA team and program sets the stage for a very promising 2026-27 season and raises the bar (no pun intended) for next year’s squad.
