He is a retired United Airlines flight attendant who has now pushed an airline beverage cart more than 1,000 miles along routes symbolizing the flight paths of the four aircraft hijacked on September 11, 2001.
Paul “Paulie” Veneto walked through Rye twice before, in 2021 and 2024 to honor those on American Flight 11 from Boston to New York. He came to visit again and passed through the City on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, 2026.

Rye has been very special on each Push that came through here. In 2024, the kids were lined up with their parents all along the street downtown, and I felt that energy building again as I pushed into Rye. When I came to the intersection and saw them all – more children come out for me in Rye than anywhere else along the route. It was really special. And the fact that I crossed my 1,000th mile here, what a perfect place to celebrate it.”
Paulie reached mile 1,000 in Rye on Monday, when you add all the miles pushed between the five years of Pushes. His plan is to arrive at Ground Zero in downtown Manhattan in time for the 25th commemoration September 11th.
