The Rye Boys Soccer team earned their second consecutive clean slate victory on Tuesday, September 8, as they crushed Harrison 5-0 at Nugent Stadium. The Garnets scored four times in a ten-minute span in the first half to jump out to a 4-0 lead and cruised from there to move to 2-0 in the infancy stages of the 2026 season.
“The effort and work rate was fantastic tonight,” head coach Jared Small told MyRye.com after the victory. “We knew the opponent would be able to match us in terms of skill, so we felt coming in that the team willing to put in more work and accept more suffering would come out on top. Tonight, we were that team. We blocked shots, we repressed, we made runs off the ball… definitely set the standard for what we want our identity to be.”
Felix Wismer opened his account in the 30th minute thanks to a clinical strike, assisted by James Hayashi. The passer became the scorer in the 33rd minute as Hayashi doubled the lead. Connor Dehmer capitalized in an error from the Huskies’ keeper to make it 3-0, and Harrison Zimmer added one more in the 39th minute to complete the barrage.
The second half featured low-event soccer with Rye sitting back. Kelston Litwin made it 5-0 in the waning seconds after a well-placed cross from Luka Rozende, an exclamation mark on a near-flawless game for Small and his club.
