Former Osborn Principal Defends Teacher in Test Mess

Former Osborn School principal Clarita Zeppie, who retired by in 2012 and never had much love for the school administration, spoke out to LoHud.com, defending the Osborn teachers who have been caught up on the testing scandal including teacher Carin Mehler. Mehler's case is ongoing.

"RYE – Putting two Osborn Elementary School teachers on administrative leave without giving them a chance to explain themselves was a "great injustice," the school's former principal told The Journal News on Thursday.

The case was mishandled from the start, said Clarita Zeppie, who retired in June 2012 after eight years as principal, and who knew the teachers involved for at least seven years.

"A great injustice has been done here, egos have gotten in the way of honesty and integrity," said Zeppie. "It's heartbreaking to see people's lives ruined because some people can't admit mistakes.""
