OK, it is not George Washington washing one down at the Square House or Ben Franklin putting markers along the Boston Post Road, but we should also pay homage to Rye’s role in popular culture.
Here is a 1973 print ad for Breck shampoo featuring Wally, Brooke and Brian Carey from Rye, New York. The children are depicted by artist Ralph William Williams in the photo realistic style he used for Breck shampoo ads. Some of the ads are in the Smithsonian archive.
